Five Minutes With:
Ermina Cham

Ermina Cham
Manager Birds & Blooms Café

Suburb: North Ward
AKA: Mina.
I’m renowned for: My baked sweets, being outgoing and calling it how it is.
Only a local would know: Winter in Townsville is the best. Hands down!
My most memorable holiday was: Driving around the South Island of New Zealand with my friends and sisters. It was a trip filled with lots of adventures, hiking, bungy jumping, sky diving, white water rafting, but most of all it was the laughter and friendship we shared together.
Right now I wish I was: In Hawaii sipping on mojitos by the beach and getting serenaded by Jack Johnson.
My favourite day is: Saturday. It’s my day off and I get to sleep in, go out for breakfast and live like a queen.
The biggest influence in my life was/is: My mother. She’s an amazing woman. We moved from East Timor during the civil war and she couldn’t speak English. What she has been through and achieved raising our family is very inspiring. She is kind, fearless and a go-getter!
The funniest thing that ever happened to me was: When I shouted at the top of my lungs to get Jude Laws’ attention for his autograph. He came over but I was so star struck that when he asked me how I was doing all I could blurt out in a very high pitched voice was “WE LOVE YOU JUDE!!!” He quickly signed my notebook and walked away.
Someone famous I met was: I’ve been lucky to have met Sir Ben Kinsley, Jude Law, Stella McCartney and Colin Firth whilst living in the UK. But meeting Kelly Slater at Bells Beach was a highlight, he was just so lovely.
My motto is: Ever tried? Ever failed? Try again. Fail again. Fail better.
