What’s your link to Townsville?
My family immigrated to Townsville from South Africa back in 1998. I finished high school (Townsville State High School) in Townsville and then completed a New Media Arts degree at James Cook University. I spent a lot of time exploring the local national parks and swimming holes.
Where are you living now?
I still call Queensland home and am now living in Brisbane. My wife Amanda and I bought acreage out on the west side, which gives us some space to call our own.
What does your work involve?
I would consider myself ‘one of the lucky ones’ as I get to work every day with my beautiful wife. Together we run our own creative studio, The Creative Noise. My days are spent working on many different print and digital projects, as our clients range from new start-ups to multinational corporations. Every day is different and work is anything but boring. We get to collaborate with some passionate people and help bring their business ideas to life.
How did your time in Townsville set you up for success?
I met some great people and made some lifelong friends while living in Townsville. I’m also blessed to have a great support system in my parents and I was lucky enough to be able to live with them while completing my university degree — this gave me all the opportunities I could ever wish for.
Do you still come ‘home’ to Townsville to visit?
My parents still live in Townsville, so I try to come up to The Ville to visit as often as I can.
